Free Spirit, Rowena J Draper, Somerset
Mixed media acrylic painting with textiles and pearled beads, hand-sewn onto canvas and set within a wooden ornate frame. A piece close to my heart, Free Spirit embodies the freedom I felt while travelling and busking in Mexico many moons ago. It carries my love for the open road and a life lived untethered. The work also nods to worlds beyond the physical — where death is not an ending, but a sacred reminder to live fully, brightly, unapologetically. A celebration of aliveness in all its realms.

Gambling With Death Where The Wild Things Were, Rowena J Draper, Somerset
Acrylic on canvas. This whimsical piece came through while I was grieving the loss and extinction unfolding in our natural world and its sentient beings. The longer I’ve sat with it, the more seems to reveal itself. To me, it carries an echo of sadness, but it also speaks of hope – of connection to our power allies within the great Tree of Life. I always love hearing the stories and interpretations this piece stirs in others.

Grizzly Madonna, Rowena J Draper, Somerset
This is a mixed media piece on wooden canvas, incorporating acrylic paint, fabric, and a built-in light box with remote control pad. The work features a 3D-printed bear head and 3D resin hands holding an LED candle, creating a layered, illuminated effect that combines sculptural and light elements. This is more than a piece of art, this a living, interactive alter to the Divine Mother. The Mother archetype comes in many forms and some are wilder and less passive than porcelain.
